Honouring a Hero: Framing a Legacy at Jubilee Framers
At Jubilee Framers, we recently had the honour of preserving and presenting a remarkable piece of military history. This framed collection commemorates the distinguished service of Flight Lieutenant R.O.D. Barnett of the Royal Australian Air Force, whose dedication and bravery were recognised in dispatches during the Second World War.
A Thoughtful Composition
We designed this framed tribute with a deep sense of respect for the individual and his service. The layout features:
-
A restored black-and-white portrait of Flight Lieutenant Barnett in uniform.
-
Two official commendation documents from the London Gazette.
-
A prominently placed Malta George Cross 50th Anniversary Medal.
-
Eight beautifully preserved medals, each meticulously mounted and labelled for clarity.
Highlighting Service Through Detail
Each medal in the display tells a story of service across multiple theatres of war:
-
The 1939–45 Star
-
The Atlantic Star
-
The Africa Star
-
The Italy Star
-
The Defence Medal
-
The War Medal (notably featuring an oak leaf for being mentioned in dispatches)
-
The Australian Service Medal 1939–45
All were professionally mounted on a soft blue mat board with clean white bevels and individual descriptions to ensure that each decoration is clearly identified and appreciated.
